I have a 84 Dodge w-150,v8,4wd,5.2 L,318. My truck keeps stalling when i give it gas and wont idle right.i put three diffrent carbs on it but it didnt help. i put new manifold gaskets on it. any suggestions on what i should do or what the problem is? thanks for your help.
More info please. Is it automatic or manual? Will it idle on its own even if it is rough? Does it back fire thru the carb when you give it gas before it dies? What carb is on it and have the three carbs been new, rebuilt, or just used? Have you set the mixture screws? Was it doing this before the first carb change? Let us know about where the timing is set.
automatic tranny, idles good but dies after 10 minutes when cold, didnt backfire threw carb,2 of the carbs wherer re manufactured from holly-they were 2 barrels and where put on my truck and adjusted right.i cant really check the timing because i sent the carbs back. my buddy told me to buy a seprate adjustment plate that the carb sits on, but i havent found any yet.
The timing we are all talking about checking is the ignition timing that is done using a timing light. Was it doing this before all of this work was done or has it started since the work began? Let us know about where the ignition timing is set.
