http://yakima.craigslist.org/cto/3643956426.html

I think that might be the one. Seems like a decent price. Has the 360 with a 4speed. Anybody know what 4 speed it is? Guy said it runs gun. Only thing with the trannsmission is if you ride the clutch it might chatter a little. Other than that the interior looks good and he said the AC works.

Almost seems a shame to turn it into a work truck. But i was also thinking that when I do the swap (depending on price) i could swap my 318 and auto trans into the donor truck. Least that way i could sell it alot easier.

Anyone have any ideas or tips?

Ok rather urgent question.

Im about to go buy a 1992 w150 5 speed. I assumed it was the nv4500 but after doing some online researching i learned they also put nv3500s in these trucks. The truck it 1000 bucks and it runs with no tranny issues. How can I tell them apart and if it turns out to be the nv3500 is it still worth it to buy the truck and do the swap.

For the price and the fact its a running 5 speed seems like a great deal.

EDIT
just looked in my Chrysler 1992 repair manual and it doesnt even list the the nv3500 as an option in the full sized trucks. Good information. still will have to check out the ID tag though

is it bolted to a 5.2? i think people have used n3500's in a ram with no issues as long as you keep the oil levels where they need to be. i think for $1000 a running and driving truck with all the parts you need to do the swap plus extra's is worth it.

i guess that may be why it is so cheap. could maybe ask him what the vin is and see if the dealer is able to tell you what trans it has. i would probably guess it has the nv4500 since it is in a full size but there have been others that have run the nv3500 in there full size and not had any issue.

ya from what i gathered either the nv3500 or the 4500 could be used behind the 360, I suppose if your doing a lot of towing or are hard on the tranny you might want the 4500 but from my limited reasearch either one would be fine. and a thousand bucks sounds like a great deal, heck I would gladly pay that to get a five speed for my truck and I dont even need the pedals or nothing.

Is the build sticker still on the underside of the hood? If so, that should tell the trans type.

So I just got back from buying it. It pretty rough shape but runs good and amazingly the AC works. I wish it did in my truck haha. The key wont start the truck, something wrong with the ignition switch so there is a push button wired to start it. Couldnt find the ID tag on the trans but its gotta be the nv4500. Im gonna trust the manual on this one. All gears seem to shift fine, maybe a little rough. Reminds me of driving my dads truck. (1992 d150 5speed). Ive got two 92s now. Crazy enough, they even have the same mileage on them

Ended up paying 900 for it. Id say its a great deal even if I wasnt going to do a swap.

from the pictures i am looking at that thing looks like a solid truck to me. looks like it even has all the options that were offer.

i don't know if it will work or not but i think you might be able to take the a/c parts and heater box out of the parts truck and put it in your truck without discharging the system if you are careful. i am pretty sure the hole in the firewall should be large enough fit the pump and hoses through.
