91 D150 360 magnum swap, 36RH 2400 stall.
I'm gonna be putting in a spool or a locker. Is any brand better than the other?? Rebuild kits availability?? Ease of rebuilding? Dependability?Think I would rather go with a spool but I can't find them for the 9.25. Dana 60/44 and the 8.75 is all I can find them for. I've checked summit, jegs. Would a d44 swap be easier??

 

Gonna drive it on the street? Don't do a spool then.

 

Most likely a locker, lol. My right rear is ready for Daytona, and the left rear is brand new.

 

are you re-gearing or anything at the same time? might be worth looking into a crush sleeve eliminator kit. if you are not re-gearing a lunchbox locker would likely be the cheapest and easiest route. you can install one in your axle in a matter of hours. @SixGunRichard has one in his truck and it always looks like it performs pretty good. i don't know what brand he used tho.

 

I was thinking of going with a set of 4.10s. but I'm not sure, I know it would be the time to do it. Sure would make it a little quicker on the bottom. I found a Dana 60 with everything I want, but it's 8 lug. And from the research I've done, it's no easy task changing it over to 5.

 

Would be easier changing the front to 8 as well...... The rears are full-floaters, so, it isn't as simple as just getting axles with the right lug pattern. They don't make hubs for those in the 5 lug pattern......

 

Then I gotta get 8 lug wheels lol. I'll keep the 9.25 and get a locker.

Summit has a Dana Spicer carrier for $310
Richmond gears 4.10 for $150
Plus the installation kit what ever that runs.

 

Detroit locker, (can be noisy....) or Tru-track. (gear driven, 'thorsen-style' LSD) The latter doesn't have clutches to wear out, doesn't need any additives, and works rather well.

 

Detroit locker, I have one in my F250 and it works great.

 

Little pricey, about $580 without installation parts, and gears..........I think I'll keep scouring Craigslist, something will pop up eventually. How much of a pain is it doing an 8.75 swap? Or a newer 9.25 from a mid 90s up 1/2 ton w/disc brakes? And that is a future mod, 4 wheel disc brakes. Just gathering info. Nothing is set in stone.
