Default I little something extra

I have a 1989 dodge D100 with a 3.9L engine. It does ok for a V6 but I would like to improve the performance a little. Are there any bolt-ons anyone could recommend that don't cost an arm and a leg?

You could always swap a V-8 into it.

That would be my suggestion. There really isn't much out there for the V-6.......

It shouldn't be hard to find the harness/pcm in a bone yard to do the swap.

I'm not interested in a motor swap. This truck is just like it came from the dealership and I want to keep it original.

The pre-magnum 3.9 was just a place holder. They dropped the 225 slant 6 and put it in. This allowed a shorter dog house on the newer trucks while having equipment to sell. I liked the 3.9 Magnum I had in my '93 Dakota as it had a nice balance of power and economy. The V-6 in your truck has plenty of room to work on it, but that body shell was designed for the big block engines. You can try changing the gearing to either get more power OR more economy. Unfortunately you can't have both.

If you like the truck like it is, there isn't really much you can do.
