Default 1992 ram 5.2 short bed, leaky gas tank

So recently I have discovered my fuel tank is cracked towards the back strap...they don't make any reproduction tanks and I'm having a hell of a time finding a good tank in scrap yards...anyone have any suggestions? Other factory tanks that have been used, fuel cells....what are folks doing about this?

could try getting it plastic welded. petty sure they only made the tanks for 3 years 91-93 so they are not very common. if i was going to do something i would go for a fuel cell mounted between the frame rails at the back.

Plastic can be repaired. Several methods for it. So, if you can't find another one, just fix what ya got.

Side story, partially relevant. Old mechanic I worked for would braze steel fuel tanks. Run a hose from idling vehicle, purge the vapors, leave running. Exhaust permitted no combustion, tank brazed, problem solved. Life was different in the 50-60's/Montana. I never saw it, but his son ran the shop, said 'twas true.
Can only imagine what the internet parrots and screamers would pontificate about this. Old guys got it done.
