OK, it's getting fire from coil to distributor and from distributor to the plugs. The fire is orange not blue. It starts but it only runs for about two seconds. That's a new one. Usually when it will start and run it runs perfect until it throws a fit and starts misfiring on all cylinders and then dies. And when that happens the fuel injectors will all be clicking untill I turn the switch off. I can't really drive it anywhere because I live in a busy town and if it stalls I would have to have it towed. It's a mess.
Ideally, it should be a fat, blue spark that SNAPS! However, after going thru the coil wire, jumping from the rotor to the terminal on the distributor cap, and then off to the spark plug, yellow is about as good as it gets. One of the reasons coils started getting closer to the plugs.....
I finally got around to testing the fuel pressure and it has 40 psi while the pump is running and when it shuts off it drops down to 30 psi. Can not having enough fuel pressure cause it to misfire and backfire through the pips? I appreciate your help.
I think 40 is correct. The falloff after the pump stops running is pretty much expected..... Something else is causing the misfires. Are you getting misfire codes yet?
Edit: Nevermind. OBDI won't set misfire codes......
