What year?

Up thru 89 is purely mechanical. 90-93 is mechnical at the trans and electric in the dash.

FIrst thing is to be sure the output at the trans spins with the drivetrain.

FIrst thing is to be sure the output at the trans spins with the drivetrain.

The odo and speedo usually fail independently, so its more likely an upstream problem.

That the speedo output turns when the driveshaft turns.

Start at the other end. Its very unlikely the speedo and odo fail at the same time.

I'm living with at least 2 broken odo's right now. No broken speedos.

Edit: if you are in the dash already, make sure the harness connector is attached properly; and no broken wires.
