ok i had to get towed today. dang ol truck quit running going down the hwy. spittering sputtering then nothing. thought she ran out of gas . nope turn key switch nothing no clicks nothing, ok so i think battery is shot, nope battery is great, head lights com on yup, flashers working you windows roll up an down (power windows ) nope no power to windows either. whats up wit this truck, i dunno i do not had a clue. what do yall think it might be.....

 

found this wire burned off this thing. i put a hot wire to the wire and it got real hot real fast.. there is power at this connection where that wire was

 

Where does that wire go to? Might want to cut it back until you find clean wire, Looks like someone put a nail in it and soldered wires to it.

 

i dunno but that wire is def a shorted wire . i think its main power feed to ign switch...

i just hate wiring its too time consuming. its not a little issue when you cant figger out what or where that dang wire goes to , there is absolutely nothing on the web to indicate where it goes so i can just get to that part and fix it...
all i can figger out is it goes to a red wire into the firewall and thats all i can see... dont know if it goes to steering column or where? i cant read schematics so thats out....maybe if they were color coded i could maybe read them..
but dodge and its screwed up wiring is one of the most things i hate about dodge... and lack of information ......i cant be the only one that owns one of these nightmares with the same exact problem....
today i didnt even look at it im so dam disgusted with it all i wanted to do is go get the rifle and shoot it that would indeed make me feel better .....

 

Try here for wiring diagrams. The newer ones are colorized, don't know about the older ones.

 

That's why there is a thing called a "service manual", The info you are after is in there. IF you find something on line (free) you are lucky. I looked at a few and they didn't have much. Even if you have the diagram you need to know what that "Y shaped thing" is called and where to locate it(the wires going into it). I have a Chilton's manual(large book) but it only goes to 91. Even then it has quite a bit of info for a "Chilton's". It looks like they copied the ones in the factory manual and shrunk them down.
