Just have to vent but the new Update did nothing to cure my issues with my phone compatibility, my issue persist with no improvement or movement at all, Im going to try a couple of tricks tomorrow, if not theres some good letters going to HB and Sprint for this problem. So much for trying to get ahead with my PPC phone

I'm a newbie and I want to say hi to everyone. I am having trouble trying to figure out how to download,burn and install the updates. The main problem seems to be the way I'm burning the cd's because when I put them in my MyGig they simply don't do anything. I know it's the way I'm doing it because they work for everyone else. I have a 2007 Nitro RT with nav. I think I've read every post but I must be missing something. If someone could explain the whole process or point me where I can find this out I would sure appreciate it. I apologize in advance if I'm asking a dumb question or if I'm asking it in the wrong place. By the way my current application is 9.041 and the Gracenotes are 534.

Download the zip file.
Extract the file.
You should have a folder named RER_9.713
(I think that's right)
Copy the files that are inside that folder to the CD, and name the CD RER_9.713. (whatever the folder was named)
Burn the CD at a "moderate" speed. (Not fastest) I'm patient so I just happily use 4 or 8x

Once it's done verify you copied the 2 files and a folder to the root of the CD.

Carry your CD to your car, and with it on, (do NOT turn off or start the car during the update.)
You should get prompted to upgrade the software.
Press "Yes"
you should then get the install going.

(That's in reference to the software update. same basic thing for the gracenotes)

I will be adding enhanced instructions to the web site soon..

Also sorry to anyone that got cut off downloading today.. I wasincreasing the speed limit on the server andI didnt realize that adjusting that setting would drop people that were downloading.. Hopefully you guys have a browser that auto resumes.. Otherwise if you have to redownload an update I cranked up the bandwidth so it should download fast now..

Ok, I fixed the Gracenotes instructions/walkthrough to resemble actual instructions..
I addedthe Chrysler MyGIG New Installation guide (Not that great considering its from Chrysler)
and added
The complete Software Version Release History of MyGIG REN/RER/REW/REP/REZ models which shows the bug fixes and changes for each release.

I still need to fix the instructions for RER/REN installation walkthrough, enhance the instructions for all of the Software Update download sections,and add more content..

Oh, and I got my Software and Gracenote CDs in the mail today.. Just a little late but at least we know thatHBdoesn't plan on releasing the Navigation Database update and that you have to buy the DVD at http://navteq.com which aren't released yet..

There is a thread on a Jeep site about replacing the hard drive in MyGIG with a bigger one. Could be info you could add to your site:

Also, I would bet that there has to have been some sort of hack for the Navteq updates already. They have been around for a long time. (They just got bought by Nokia recently!)

But from many of the Mercedes Benz forums I have found, it looks like they made a lot of people mad when they discontinued the "subscription" model of updates. I don't understand that logic on their part...

If I could get a CD of map updates mailed to me twice a year for $50 a year subscription fee I probably would do it. And after just 4 years, they would have their $200 like what each update costs now, and I would be a happy customer. Possibly keeping my subscription even longer! All for updates that they currently produce - all it costs them is admin fees to process the subscription and mail out the disk. BUT - as it is, them charging the $200 per update I am highly unlikely to ever buy an update. That is just too much money for data that will be outdated again soon... So they have completely lost any $$$ they could have made from me - and I am not nearly as happy a customer. (This is in fact the reason why I made the dealer throw in the nav system for free - because I did not want to pay a huge amount for a nav system that was going to cost a lot to update - when I can get all sorts of cheap aftermarket solutions that are much more affordable).

Looking hard enough I am sure there is already Navteq hacks around somewhere.

Well actually on second thought, I don't think going crazy writing a keygen thenhosting a 5 GB DVD for no perticular reason other than boredom sounds like a lot of fun to me

Damn.. thats a lot of steps to upgrade the hard drive.. I was thinking something more along the lines of..
1) Plug drive in
2) Ghost drive
3) Resizedrive partition
4) All done

Installed 9.713 tonight after a failed disc. If you're using a Mac, be aware of the hidden .DS_STORE files that ride along with the 9.713 folder - I believe for some reason those were burnt along with the other files which MyGig was none too happy with. But I finally got it!

Now my CDMA Razr actually works with UConnect! Thanks to those who make downloading the updates possible.

Well, I've got to be the dumbest person on this forum,because I still can't make the update work on my MyGig. I download 9.713 from Futil's sight,I extract it to a folder on my C drive, I've used 3 different burning softwares, and still doesn't work when I put the CD in. It goes in and it closes and then it says it isREADING for about 30-45 seconds and then the word DATA comes up on the screen and nothing happens. I've left it in as long as 10 minutes but again nothing happens. Am I using the wrong burning software? I've used Nero Startsmart and Record Now and I used one that I can't remember its name. I've burnt about 10 discs now with the same results. I thought maybe there was something wrong with the drive in the unit, but it plays DVD's and CD's. Once again I'm sorry for being a pain, but I just can't figure this thing out. I have a 2007 Nitro and my current application is 9.041. I've just about given up. Does anyone know what I'm doing wrong?
