Default 08 Avenger Stalling???? HELP!!!!

hello, i have a 2008 Dodge Avenger SE with 101,000 miles on it. have had it for about a month. A couple times it felt like it was idling down/about to die when stopping. Then yesterday was driving around town and it stalled out at a stop sign wouldnt start for a few minutes. Got it started drove for a few more miles then it stalled out going at 25 mph with the gas pedal pushed, (no matter if you try to flutter the gas pedal, or shove it to the floor -- still doesnt keep it going).. died again. drove a few miles, died again. This morning it went fine for the 5 miles I had to go no issues. Don't want to be left dead on highway. ANY IDEAS WILL BE APPRECIATED!!

any check engine light or other lights on the dash? If so, get it check first.
maybe you have a bad fuel pump. Fuel pump is under rear seat, remove rear seat, when it won't start, see if you can hear the fuel pump running when you crank or cycle ignition. There is 3 big Torx(Star) screw holding the front of the seat cushion, remove it and you can remove the seat.
Dont just randomly throw parts at your car, these cars has hundreds of items that could cause it to die out, and there is really no "common failure item"

No lights are on. And when restarting the car sometimes it starts right up other times just keeps cranking. Seems like if I let it sit for a few minutes it's more likely to start.

Jbaker,

What motor you have in that thing? 2.0? 2.4? 2.7? While I tend to agree with Steak about a fuel delivery issue, I do know there where some TSB's on these vehicles for idle fluctuation issues. PM me the VIN if you want and I will look them up for you.

Default Same Issue.

Yeah, I'm currently having this same issue. I have a 2008 avenger sxt and it happened once like 7-8 months ago where it just shut off at a stoplight. it happened on Thanksgiving at a stoplight as well, so im assuming it has something to do while in a semi-idle position. When i took it in to get looked at, they said that there were no error codes and just recommended a tune-up, which was like the spark plug replacement or whatever. I hoped that would fix it, but that didn't happen. So if you do end up taking it in, that might not be it.

Dirty throttle body perhaps? It could be sticking closed due to carbon build-up while decellerating and not opening back up fast enough causing it to stall.

Default Dealership's take on it...

The dealership had no opinion whatsoever about it, when asked if he had heard of anyone with a car just shutting off. He claimed that it was probably electrical, but said i'd have to bring it in, so who knows

Default my o8 avenger stalls, dies and runs rough part of the time

need help, same thing other people are talking about but have no idea what is going on. we do have and engine light that comes on and off. no codes, first time i thought it was bad gas, put a can of sea foam in and light went away. light comes and goes, seen in dodge charger forum that the fuel was getting into the evap canister and flooding out engine due to a stick valve. but that is what i have heard but the dealership cannot find anything wrong. 2.7 flex fuel with 57000 miles on it.
