tansmission fluid capacity
Chiltons says 5.0 qts capacity for fluid. Total replacement, as in torque converter or reservicing after overhaul/rebuild 14 qts.
I would get 6 or seven to be on the safe side, remember dont open the sixth and seventh bottle until you are sure you need it. You might be able ot return it as long as the bottle is not opened. The safety seal broken by most retailers would be onsidered opened.

think i am going to go with the valvoline atf4.. full drain and refill though.. just hit 90k yesterday and i have no records from the previous owner that he ever changed it.. royal purple would be nice, but not sure enough about the acceptance from mopar to try it just yet..
Good choice, I have put Valvoline ATF+4 in two services without any problems, if you hit 90 without any previous documentation then it would be good to have a known starting point for new fluid. Remember there are two filters, the blade type and the spin on oil filter type, last time I drove around to three different places and still wound up going to the dealer for the filters just food for thought. If you hit dealer don't forget the RTV Tell them it is the RTV sealant for the 545RFE transmission pan.
Royal Purple is not an approved Chrysler product!!!!!
Don't do any type of transmission flush!
Listen, don't even bother with the purge unless your fluid is burned. Just drop the pan replace both filters and fill it back up, make sure you do not over fill!!!! Use ATF+4 fluid only. I will tell you to use Valvoline Fully Synthetic ATF+4 and you will need 5-7 quarts to do so in your specific transmission. You can reuse your gasket by simply putting a little grease on the gasket (just enough to wet it) and re-install. This will get most of the old fluid out anyway, just not all of it.
Yes, I am toying with Mobil One Fully Synthetic ATF but that is completely different and a test if anything.

If you are replacing the filters on a 45RFE/545RFE it will take 8 to 10 qts to fill. Here are some specs, this way you don't need to look in the chilton book.
