lsd opinions and experiences
Thanks white knuckle. I have been watching the thread at least it strayed in the direction it did I was going to ask about the arb but now that's answered as well. I am prety hard on tje 4 wheel so I had better look at an upgrade. A buddy just ordered a yukon locker for his 01 1500 so mabe I will see how ot works for him and try it. Its not looking loke my truck will be running too soon anyhow
I think they make a version that will fit the LSD case... would have to check with them though to be sure. For the price though, would still be a LOT cheaper to rebuild what's in there now.
I just bought it it runs snd drives but only kinda and I had to use the money for registration to pay the er. I want it to be working proper or close to it before I drive it too much
if your diff ever does go bad, it is actually cheaper to get a new posi unit than it is to get new parts and the rebuild.
New Auburn 4.10 posi on my truck was:
$530 for the posi (AUB 54270)
$198 for labor
--------------
$728 total
It was cheaper than a rebuild to fix crappy backlash. Warranty covered it but that was on the invoice.

Kinda means its good enough for most people but I want it running good and safe enough that I'm not worried about puring my kid on it and going on a trip. Some of the noises the trans makes makes me nervous since I don't want to screw the trans up its parked until I got the money to fix it right. Thought I would check the rest out while waiting on parts to fix the trans. So that's kinda I can drive ot but don't.
So far the list of needs fixed are:
rear main seal
U joints
clutch kit
Fluids
Check lsd
Headliner
Cat converter
I bought the truck a few weeks ago for $200 so I figure I can throw a bit of money at it and be ahead. The biggest problem is I turn wrenches all day and don't want to when I get home. Bit I will get this truck going

Something may need to be fixed now , before you have more expensive probs down the line.
