I re-geared at 150k miles.. my 3.92:1 w/LSD was still snugly clipped, and working properly.. I stuffed the 4.56:1's in there, and retained the LSD.. So far, no problems..
I don't know what the deal is with those clips.. I'm thinking they don't hold well to abuse.. abuse being the operative word.. I've never abused my rig.. A really hard launch, or turning 90* and standing on it, is what I term abuse.. You can accelerate as fast as you want, so long as you do it from a rolling start- and you can launch out of a turn the same, so long as you steadily increase speed as opposed to standing on it.. yeah, it isn't near as much fun- but, it's about the only reason I can give as to why my LSD clips have never failed.. (now that I've said it out loud, I fully expect to have issues)..
