Angry Upper Control Arm Mounts

Hey Folks,

I live in the Rust Belt! Dakotas seem to have a very limited life here due to road maintenance in winter. My upper control arm mounts are looking pretty sad, the the control arm mounting nuts look like something I've never seen. They are almost non existent. Does anyone know where I can buy this type of mount? Was poking at the frame and it still pretty solid.

Thanks

I will be having the same problem..... I kinda planned on trying to find a solid frame and section out the approximately 2 ft with the mounts welded on. I then would split the frame section, cutting off the back side. Kinda a C shape.
Turn around and cut the same part off of my truck. Set in place and weld.

I did want to give you this link. The guy seems pretty talented to make this up, but it may be worth a try.
Good luck and let us know what you do.

Thanks for that 93Ragtop! Great link.... had no idea the bolts that hold the control arm on have the spline on them. Guess my idea with the impact on the bolt head will not work. The nuts are rusted away on my control arm. He did a great job at reconstruction. My plan is to fab the mounts. I would grind out the old and weld in the new. Will try to redesign so that it is not a trap for debris and rusting. I'm in the process of doing the same with the cab mounts. I'm a little bit machinist and a little bit fab guy! if i can figure it out I'll post what I do. By the way, the method you have sounds like a good idea also!

Thanks again!

We want pics, and documentation on the repair.

I wanted to add, the closest pre made parts are these that I could find..... https://www.aa-mfg.com/product/upper-a-arm-mount/
But JMO I believe, if your going to make them, just starting with flat steel and cutting at the youtube video showed would be best.

In order to make it flat, and no lip to hold dirt, I believe it will need to be much thicker steel.....
My thoughts was to clean it up and pack it in axle grease.....
