Horatio-
Im with you man. I believe that a properly tuned exhaust is critical, even if that means a single pipe, expecially on the 4.7. So, do you have any particular exhaust kit that you recomend??? I've been looking at some flowmaster set ups, but dont really know what is best for my truck. And of course, they ALL claim to add horsepower, but i know now that isn't always true. I really appreciate the help.
Nope. I recommend a decent set of headers, a high flow cat, and a high flow muffler of your choice, and then custom bent piping.

stock headers are quite adequate on the 4.7...

You mean stock exhaust manifolds?

I'm not saying they aren't able to flow decently, but do they maximize the scavenging effects of a tuned header?

Unless the 4.7 has a tubular manifold - like the new Tundra or a Miata, it's not the same difference, and I doubt that they do. Got any dyno graphs of the same vehicle back-to-back with different exhaust manifolds?

big deal horatio, the point is that putting headers on a 4.7 is a waste of time and money unless you're gonna supercharge it or something. chris- glad to hear your truck is running better, i dont know if the 4.7's have an IAT sensor on the intake tube anywhere but i would suspect that if it does have one, you might have moved it too far up or down. i know on my 3.9 one of the mods is to move that sensor location up farther towards the front of the truck to "trick" the computer into thinking the incomming air is colder (to advance timing and allow more fuel into the mix), however some people move it up too far and end up getting terrible mileage and bad performance.

Wink-
yeah it does have one. The instructions that came with the CIA told me to measure 2" from the end of the intake tube (on the throttle body side). So, that is where i located it. Didn't really think about it effecting the way the truck runs, but it does make sence. Maybe i will play around with location to see what effects if any will have. Thanks for all the help everyone!!

chris- i would say try to put the IAT in the same location it was stock, you will get better airflow, without messing up any sensors.

Headers alone on any engine is a waste of time and money, it's all about little incremential gains that build on eachother. Sure, some mods make more power than others, but very few are worthless.
