Default Gas Mileage 4.7 Ahhhh!

As everyone probably knows, the 4.7 ltr is a gas HOG! Has anyone had any good luck with air intakes or any other means to help out the gas mileage on these suckers? I probably average just under 14mpg!!!!

Do a search on this one....but I get about 17-19 on the highway and 13-15 in town. Depends on how I feel like driving.

I have a K&N CAI and true dual exhaust on my trucksand it did help with gas mileage.
Not alot but some, anything helps. The SRT-10 went from 9.5 to 11 and the HEMI went
from 14.2 to about 16. Not geting on it.

Iam alittlehard on the pedal plus my Dak is AWD so I am getting 11mpg city and 13 on hwy.

Has anyone tried to reprogram their 4.7L with one of those chips or computer reboot programmers like Hypertech to
get better gas milage?

wow, my 05 4.7 with the 206 cam upgrade gets 20/22 on the higway and 17/18 around town with a heavy foot. 22 gallon tank and i get close to 400 miles. the thing that helped me out the most was tire pressure. the truck state psi should be 35, tire states max psi of 44 so i put it in the middle at 40. noticed a big difference right from the start.

Real ways to improve MPG
written with Rams in mind
but 80% or more applies equally well
to Dakotas:

https://dodgeforum.com/m_447500/tm.htm

Be warned: it is a long read

As a mid-sized pickup
it is a shame that the weight of 2nd and 3rd gen Dakotas
has gone up so much compared to the originals
and this hurts city MPG especially.
