One thing I have noticed with my truck is when you floor it, with the lower grade octane it is a little sluggish. But when I use 93 octane it does take off a little faster and runs better. Another thing is if you floor it then let off the gas then floor again it seems to really go then. It's like it knows your really wanting to go and it will get up and go then. But still my 2003 V6 3.9L, even with K&N air filter, dual exhaust, new better spark plugs it goes faster then stock, it still can't compare to my friends 2000 V8 4.7L. The V8's can really go. I just think the V6 is a good engine but the Quad Cab's, even being a mid size, are still a lot of truck to move. I hauled a car and had no problem.

one tip to decrease your time is to pretty much hold the brake to the floor and increase engine speed up to the torque converter stall speed ( to the point where the truck begins to move with your foot mashed on the brake to the ground).. let off the brake and pound on the gas at the same time... and for tntitans "Another thing is if you floor it then let off the gas then floor again it seems to really go the"... pretty much your just engaging the torque converter with the first tap on the gas pedal to get the truck moving , then u get her going by slamming on the gas... same principle different method... first one though gets better time but good idea still

Well I got the cat converter on there and still no go, but I continue hearing a clicking noise? Could this maybe cause this? Or exhuast leak but not sure.

idk bud....
What, other than the slower acceleration, is the truck doing to make you think something is wrong with it?? I mean- you have big tires, 4 wheel drive, and idk how many miles.....maybe theres nothing at all wrong with it. Its a 6 banger and im guessing, becuase you said that sludge is a problem, that it has alot of miles on it. Unless you've noticed a BIG change in the way she performs here recently, i would say that theres nothing wrong with it. -But thats just my opinion.

Your exhuast leak wouldn't make a sound. I had a leak and thetruck didn't perform any different just shoots a code.

One of my friends has a 2000 with the V8 and it has about 180,000 or so and he is getting a clicking sound, but his promblem is on the inside of the motor. He thought it might be a lifter andhe checked and that didn't fix it. His runs fine, but it does have a clicking sound. I thik it is something more then a easy quick fix. You might have to actually take it to someone to let them look at it.

Well I wish the cat made a difference I know it's not a race car but it takes like 18 seconds to 60 mph. Sometimes more. Really slow start.
