Rough ride;looking for softer ride

My 3.9 D is way to bumpy for me. I bought it with the tires all jacked up and ended up replacing them with Futuras. Wide tires they are. But I want a soft suspension. The roads in Alabama are rough and i want my truck to absorbbumps like it's nothing. Anybody with some personal experience that can point me in the right direction? And the search wasn't showing me any results by the way. Anybody?

If the truck is jacked up, then there is no smooth ride. You don't jack it up for a smooth ride. Do you have new shocks, then you may just need to wait for them to wear down. My Dad's 1999 GMC 2500 was the bumpest ride when new, and now after 110,000 miles it is a lot more relaxing, still a truck not aBMW.

Edelbrock, skyjacker, trailmaster, pro comp, and super lift are good manufactures to start with.
lifted trucks are supposed to ride smoother, for better control on crunchy roads, but cheap shocks limit that ability
but unless you go with a fully fabbed FIS air suspension with twin accumulater tanks you won't ride on a cloud. but i don't think thats what you want anyway
if you get shocks specifically for your lifted truck it will greatly enhance your ride quality. even though it won't be the cheapest route
BTW. has any body noticed that the independent front suspension of these trucks is real cushy,
but the solid axle, leaf spring rear is not. (thats the problem.)
