Radar Detectors (cheap)
Got a question about radar detectors. I was at wal mart getting oil today and saw a cobra one and a few other ones for like 40-80 bucks and was wondering if anyone has used or has one of these. i dont wanna spend a lot of money but i want something for when i got to school because its a lot of wide open high ways. Thanks for any reviews or suggestionns

i just want it for peace of mind really im not a big speeder so they had a whistler one that was 50 bucks that i might get since im pretty broke right now well not really but when the parents want all ur money u are haha thanks for the advice.

The problem with the cheep fuzzbusters is not that they won't detect a cop, but that the cop that they detect will be lost in all of the false alarms, including garage door openers, store shoplifting sensor systems, ext. The better the fuzzbuster, the better it is able to weed out all of the signals that are not cops. The current top of the line Escort contains a GPS that will program itsself to ignore regular false alarms, like ones around your neighborhood or on your drive home from work, ext. They are trying to compete with the Valentine One, which has a patent on the technology with will tell you a direction of a signal (Escort is pissed about that). The Valentine One is considered the best simply because of that.
Just a bit of trivia, my brother is in the Navy flying a E-2 radar plane, which is often used to hunt down drug flights in South America. The drug runners avoid the radar plane using automotive radar detectors. A 30 million dollar plane is bested by a 30 dollar fuzzbuster.
