Rattling noise from engine bay?
So iv got this rattling noise coming from the engine bay. i know its hard to explain typing it up. But ill try and to get a video up when it starts to happen again. Well when i took my truck in to the dealer(which i am never doing again!!) big mistake on my part[:@] i told them there was some rattling noise and could they quickly look. Not to spend anytime i just maybe wanted an idea were it was coming from. So when my truck is ready the guy comes back and says it could be the belt tensionor, because when he took off pressure from the tensionor it stoped making the noise. He also says my clutch fan is gone to because it keeps spining after my truck was shut off. So when i get the bill they charge me 80 bucks to find this problem that i told them to quickly look at. WTF!!!! I was pissed, i complained and he took off like 10 bucks of my bill wow big deal, so i didnt wanna make that big of a scence. I paid the bill and left. So i when i ended up replacing the belt tensionor, the clutch fan tighten up way more. But im guessing its still gone? Althou there is still a rattling noise, and i dont know were it comes from? Sort of sounds like a melt vibration on the left side?
If any of you guys know that would be great.
thanks

RE: Rattling noise from engine bay?
left side looking at the bay, or left side sitting in drivers seat.
Always refer to it as Passanger or driver side.
i would check your battery strap make sure its tight, could be a loose nut on the exhuast manifold heat shields.
umm, stock airbox moving, just check and make sure everything is tight...
if its more of a ticking noise then it could be internals...

I had a rattling noise on mine and it took for ever to find it. I just got underneath the truck and started banging on stuff. it turned out to be a heat shield by the transmission in the Y pipe. it would only rattle at ilde and when it shifted. but I took that heat shield off and then it stopped.

Mine has a wierd rattle too, it only does it sometimes when idling, and when I'm cruising at a steady RPM. It sounds like a heat shield, but I've checked all the ones I can seem to find and all seem tight. I never drive in the winter, and hardly ever in rain,so nothing is rusted what-so-ever, so something must be loose or somethhing. It drives me nuts and I can't find the damn thing. lol
