Default New Deck

How do I install my new deck a bought, I am just weary of the black plastic trim around the gauges and stereo, does it just pull off or does it screw off. It's a 2000 Dakota. Thanks

umm if it has the trim i am thinking of, it just unscrews, (is it the square face stock radio?, if so than the trim just pulls off), if not than you have to take the whole dash off, a pic would help us give you correct info

the black plastic trim just pulls off. stick a flat screw driver in there and start prying. then unbolt the stock radio, put the mounting kit inthere and hook up all the wires, then snap the plastic trim back on and your done.

^^ What he said It's pretty hard to screw up. It may come off hard at first, but it will come off.

It's also easier if you lower the steering wheel as far down as it will go, put the key in it so you can get the transmission out of park, and put it down all the way into first gear. Warning! set the parking brake first(emergancy brake, whatever you want to call it) or your truck will roll out of your driveway!

Anyways, moving the steering wheel down and putting the transmission into 1st gives you a whole lot more room to get the dash off, it just pops right off. You may have to remove a few things from the dash shell if you want to take it completely off( I did, it gives you a lot mroe room to work on the truck). My brother has the same truck as mine, and I've put a new head unit in his, and installed an ipod adapter in his, so I've had his apart twice, and then I've taken mine apart once to put in a new head unit too. It's really easy the 3rd time you've done it, just dont yank too hard and you wont even have to worry about breaking anything.
