Default Peeps from the Mud!

What is the difference between suspension lifts, body lifts, and leveling kits?

Thanx

suspension lifts pretty much lift up the truck, give you more ground clearance and keep everything nicely tucked under the truckbody, plus give u the opportunity to throw bigger tires on the truck, be careful with the suspension travel

body lifts enable you to throw bigger tires on the truck, giving slightly more ground clearance but nothing as dramatic as a suspension lift, looks good though

leveling kit or with our 4wd dakota, crank up the torsion bars, will get rid of the raked look of the truck and give you even ground clearance up front and back

hopefully that helped u out, others may ring in with more info

thanx man that was helpful indeed!one more question. i have a 3 inch body lift right now ( i did not install it, i just recently bought this puppy and it was already there WITH new 33 inch tires) so anyway my question is...would a leveling kit/crankin the torsion bars do anything at all for me?

its gonna raise your front end and give you a level look, more front end ground clearance, i call it the poor man's suspension lift, makes ride quality somewhat stiffer but i havent noticed much of a difference though what year is your truck?... i have an 01 and all i did was a max of 6 turns, each turn gave me 1/4" lift, i could of maxed it out at 8 turns to get 2 inches of lift but then id have to get longer shocks and brake lines, but yea, pretty much no more raked look

are you 2wd or 4wd?... 4wd have t bars, 2 wd drives have coil springs, you can only crank the tbars on 4wd models

you have coils up front, leaf springs in the rear, torsion bars take place of the coil suspension up front, and no you cant ryan, your going to either need to get coil spacers or longer coils for the tront or find a lowering kit for the shackles on the leaf springs in the rear, t-bars connect into the control arm on our 4x4 dakotas since we have independent front suspension and a solid rear axle

can i move the bracket that holds the leaf springs together down to a larger spring where there will be less tension? will that do the trick?
