Default hughes stage one intake

I had to remove my manifold due to getting a bolt broken off and stuck in the thermostat housing. Ive decided to get a stage one intake manifold from hughes engines for my 2001 3.9. Does anyone have one of these intakes? They are ported and shortened the runners to 14'. the kit also comes with a re-enforced plenum gasket with a new billet plenum pan installed. This is good because after i took off my manifold, i realized the gasket started to leak due to a couple small pools of oil laying on top of the plenum pan. Anyway, i was just wondering if anyone has one of these and what i can expect to gain performance wise?? also, will the stage one manifold do any good with just a stock throttle body. I plan on getting an f&b or hughes stage one TB maybe in the spring but now i dont have any money. After that it'll be 1.7 roller rockers and headers. With all my mods combined, my 3.9 should be putting out some decent power. thanks for your input.

I can't imagine seeing any big gains with your stock throttle body in place, but it shouldn't hurt. I haven't heard of that brand before, nor have I heard of any details regarding results.

i just ordered it tonight. I'm not expecting any big gains due to the fact I still have a stock TB. However, when I do upgrade to a better TB it should do alot of good. The best thing about the whole deal is that the intake they'll send me will have a 1/4 inch steel re-enforced plenum gasket with a brand new billet plenum already installed so I wont ever have to worry about changing the plenum again. After I took off my intake I noticed pools of oil on the plenum pan, so i knew it was going bad anyway. If your truck knocks at all, I recommend checking that out.

that will be a nice upgrade, hughes makes good stuff, you can get a stock v8 throttle body for cheap and they are much bigger than the v6 ones i believe its 46mm vs 48mm or you could get a fastman 5mm for cheap theres a used one on ebay right now

I agree... find a stock V8 TB and put it on during the swap... they are said to be worth 10+ HP. have you thought of just modifying your intake? it's not that hard to do with the right tools (home depot trip).

one of the reasons i ordered the stage one is so i could get rid of my intake with the hole drilled through it because i got a bolt broke off and stuck in the manifold. besides, id rather have professionals do it, plus i dont have time to fool with it.

10 hp for the v8 tb on a v6! Wow thats a lot, throw an exhaust and intake probably get 15 easy. Maybe I should try this before I decide to dump my truck cuse it's a pos. But I think fixing the Header leak might give me a big of gains.
