Default rpm's drop in park

i have a 2001 dakota, lately now that it is cold outside when i put it in park the rpm's drop like it is going to stall[ stalled a few times last year] then returns to normal. it only does this in park and cold weather, runs fine otherwise. any ideas what is causing this?

I just paid the dealer 200.00 you could get a garage to do it cheaper.i just did the crank sensor and it solved the problem.sounds like it would work for you as well.

you may be able to do it yourself ,but it is in a tough spot behind the motor on top of the bell housing. The part cost about 45.00 from a parts store
