replaced battery
First cold day and my battery took a nose dive had it tested and of course they said it was bad.
funny thing is we had a cold day and this morning i went to work and the truck started fine i don't believe that i left anything on but i noticed my ground cable was loose. cost me 90 dollars and a few moments in the cold with a dead battery.

RE: replaced battery
the temp got down around 15 here in cleveland ohio today . it was just wild as how it started the truck 8 hours earlier and i went out at 3:30 and it was deader than a door nail. i mean it didn't even click.
after i found someone to give me a jump it wouldn't idle on its own for about 5 minutes, not sure what the deal was there. but it warmed up and it drove it directly to bulldog battery and in a flash plus 90 bucks it was fixed .
even with all that im still only into the truck about $950 . still ahead of the game for a nice 4x4 dakota club cab.

RE: replaced battery
Try Interstate - Batteries,.. Man, I've had good luck with those.
I've got them in 3 trucks and 1 car I own.
The one car is a 1st yr Intreped,.. The car is wore the hell out but,
the motor is great in the thing! I bought a re-furbished Interstate,
(Not wanting to put another penny in the thing) because the old batt
went dead on the 1st cold day. 20 bucks-90 day warrenty, can't be beat
for a car that MIGHT last those 90 days anyway!! LOL!!!

RE: replaced battery
I just went through all of that too. Truck went completely dead twice before I got the new battery in, and both times it wouldn't idle on it's own. I think it's because with the complete loss of power the pcm gets reset, and the idle air control motor goes to a default setting until it can "re-learn" what it needs to. With it being so cold out that default setting just doesn't work.

RE: replaced battery
2nd gen trucks do not like to idle with a dead battery. when you go to jump it, cycle the ignition 4 times until a "p done" message shows on the digital vin display, then start her up.
My 1st gen dakota is missing the headlight buzzer so it doesnt remind me when I forget to turn off the lights. Ive walked out of stores and work with a dead battery so many freaking times![:@]
