Default Dual exhaust exit Pipe Diameter

Ok so I did do a search and everyones opinion about exhaust manufacturer seems to be different. Thats fine, my question is what diameter pipe did you use/wish you used after the muffler. I plan on putting on a 1 in 2 outexhaust from the cat back. I've read that toolarge of a diameteryou lose your low end. And please don't let this turn into a backpressure/velocity debate.

I went with 2.25 out from behind the muffler. Everyone was saying about low end loss if you go to big, but I notice none. I went with a Flowmaster Delta flow 40 and like the sound. "That is another controversy". I don't know if that muffler will sound good with your 3.9 though. Some like it, some don't.

The standard pipe is 2.5. So I voted the same , but 2" WILL PROBABLY keep the low end...

for the v6 i would go with 2" ID piping to fool many ppl try to keep the truck at a low rpm to makeit seem like its got a v8 my cousins 4.3 v6 sounds like a stock 350 at low idle and up to 1700rpm i havent heard it on a 3.9 though and teh tips also have a roll too big and youll ruin the sound and too little, theres no point, i have a 3.5 rolled edge on mine that are 18" long but it also has a v8 if i were you i would put 12"x 3" diamiter tip with 2" piping from the muffler back mandral bent tubing would be best also

If you guys were going to straight pipe your truck what diameter pipe would you use? would you stick with the stock size, or go bigger or smaller. I am looking to do this in the spring so i was wondering what would work best and not take anything away.

yeah i have a 2.25 inch tube into a 3.5 inch slash-cut tip. it works fine, provides me enough back pressure and makes it sound good when you are going but still live-able at idle and on the highway. it can get raunchy but is still a pleasure to have

It seems like most people are saying 2.5", but they seem to have a V8. For the 6 it seems to me 2" or 2 1/4". I plan on goin to the exhaust shop this weekend and talk to the installer. It's a friend of a friend, and this guy is good. He usually does custom exhausts on muscle cars, but will work on anything he can get his hands on. I'll keep you posted...
