Nerf Step and Cab Mounts

Nerf Step and Cab Mounts
Some clown in a parking lot schmucked up my side bar and took off. Thankfully, the bar did its job and protected the doors, but now I'm looking at replacing the bars. I'm not too upset; they're getting pretty rusted and unseemly from the salt anyways.
The issue I'm having is that the bars are mounted to the cab mounts. There seems to be a bolt going up through the bar bracket, through the cab mount and into the cab. The issue is that I can't get at the top of the bolt, so if there's a nut up there, I can't reach it. Is the bolt threaded directly into the cab? If not, how does the bolt come off/on?
I'd rather not start pulling things apart and mess everything up. I've done a search through old forums, but can't find anything on this topic. Any suggestions are welcome.

RE: Nerf Step mounted to Cab Mounts
I have Tech-tubes that I'm replacing with UltraBlacks from Dee-Zee.
The bolt that holds them on is the same bolt that holds the cab onto the frame. I can't see how to reach the top of the bolt, so I'm wondering if the cab has the threads built into it, therefor no nut to try to reach.

get the cheapest ones you can on ebay, they never last, they all rust, why pay 400 for dee zee unless your gna clean the thing religously...then replace in 3-5 years, when you can spend 150 and do the same? this is what i did just my oppinion...i had the dee zee, junk, the thing came off whenit wasused as a step, not impressed.

RE: Nerf Step mounted to Cab Mounts
I've never looked at the cab mounting bolts, but my understanding is on most trucks there is a captured nut in the cab. They run the bolt up from the bottom into the captured nut.
If you have a repair book it may provide a little bit of detail on the cab mounting, or talk to the parts department at your Dodge Dealer.
Good luck.
