Default 5.9L half runs

Okay, we tried to keep it running but it just wont stay started it also takes quite a bit to get it going.
It will if you give it gas though on the side note but still runs a bit rough, and the odd time back fires are below 1000 rpm. Every so often..

Need to get this fixed.

Just a thought, do the v6 spark plugs and wires work on the v8?? 5.9 . Tomorrow i am going to buy a ob2 reader so I can get check engine light codes. Would be cheaper for me to just take a plug from the v6 and i know it works.. Also, than I can verify what exactly is happening, I am guessing a misfire somewhere...

It sounds ignition-based to me. Like an ignition module or PCM or something like that. I'll admit that I haven't kept up with your other 5.9 engine swap thread. I assume you used the PCM from a 5.9, and all ignition parts, from a 5.9 Dakota (like an R/T)?

Yea I did. It seems like not enough gas, spark or air.

Air should be good, if you can hold the throttle open and it still doesn't run well. Re-check ignition timing and the installation of the distributor and routing of the wires. Re-check the firing order and make sure all the wires are installed correctly onto the correct terminals of the distributor. If it were just a wire or a plug, that would be one heck of a miss to make it run like that. I think it's something upstream, like something at the distributor and/or ignition system.

I think the 5.9 has to have the fuel synchronization set with the distributor and a DRBIII. I'm pretty sure you can't change base timing with the distributor, but I could be wrong.

After posting my last reply, I checked with my information and I am right. While the timing does have to be close in order for the engine to crank, the fuel sync does have to be set before the engine will run correctly and base timing cannot be changed with the distributor. I have the instructions to do this if you have access to a DRB
