battery gauge

Default battery gauge

Hey guys,tell me what you think?Im on the high way and my CHECK GAUGES light comes on and my battery gauge is all the way down to nothing,everything else is normal gauge wise,I get out pop the hood with it idleing and the belt is good,alt is spinning water pump and the little light on the battery is green,What do you think it could be?

Thanx,I think you might be right cause the alt.battery and everything else for that matter are original and have never been replaced and my truck i got new in 2000,And i have 213.000 on it! do you think i should just throw some parts at it or get a diognoses!

take the alternator off and bring it to somewhere were they do a free alternator test, they should tell you, otherwise id check for a loose ground or cable.

Thanx for the info,Im gonna take my chances first thing in the morning and drive it to my shop and let my mechanic check it.

Take it to Advance or AutoZone -- they'll test your alternator and your battery (right on the vehicle) for free. You won't have to take it off, and you won't have to pay for it. Of course, if it IS your alternator, you'll end up taking it off anyway. If it's your battery, they'll install it for you, right in the parking lot.

Well here they only test on a bench no in the vehicle for alternator (NAPA) So can be different anywhere...
