problem with spedometer

Default problem with spedometer

im a proud new owner of a 2000 dakota r/t (big upgrade from the kia rio i drove) now the spedo stays at zero when im driving rpm gauge works but nothing from the spedo. any idea what it could be. im good with mechanics but electrical isnt my thing. thanks guys

Congrats on the R/T you will love it, but sorry im no good w/ electronics either. I still love the old big blocks lol.

I would think it could be the Speed-Sensor
located on top of the rear end. About 25 bucks
to replace. 1 bolt, 2 nuts, 1 plug. Pretty easy fix.

LOL rtdakota you find a way to make anything sick lol. Im glad mine is in my transmission. I should find a way to get my funky speedo video up. It jumps around anywhere from 115km/h to 200 lol.

nah you got one on the rear diff too, we all have two there is one on the dif and one on the tranny

Could also be the cluster. I've had a neon with that same problem. I replaced the cluster and worked like a charm. You'll just have to make a paper showing that you changed the cluster... also if you do... keep the old cluster for proof.

thanks guys,

i'll try changing the speed sensor first and if no luck go from there with the cluster.

also is there anything i should be expecting to go on the r/t anying these trucks are prone for? thanks
