Thanks for the info. I'm throwing a P0601 code and was advised to replace the PCM. What I've been told from mechanics and several reputable parts store contacts was not encouraging. With double good buddy pricing, I was looking at $300 for the PCM and another $100 to program it. $199 for one completely programmed sounds really good in comparison. I'll echo what was said above about electronics. If they're going to fail, it'll be in the first 30 days. After that, they'll probably last for years.

Just an update. I ordered one with a lifetime warranty from allcomputerresources.com. It was $208 with free ground shipping. I sent an email to them with some questions, and got a reply back in reasonable time. I'll update again after I get the PCM installed.

Another update.

The rebuilt PCM worked like a champ. No more P0601, and no more check engine light. Even better, it allowed me to find the real source of my trouble - a bad cam shaft position sensor. I'm back on the road!

I'm plugging allcomputerresources.com. That's a recommendation because they responded to a couple of questions right away with good info.
