oh, i didnt realize you were getting absolutely nothing when you turned the key. in that case, my money's on the starter. field test it on a known good power source.

another thing... although its probably the starter, take the terminals off and clean them up a little bit and maybe that will help... if it doesn't then its the starter probably but cleaning the terminals can't hurt...

If you can get to the starter, give it a good smack with something ( not a BFG) what happened is the BENDIX is not energizing, the starter motor is spinning but the bendix is not pushung the gear forward into the path of the flywheel. trying to start it with a low charge will create an arc spot on the bendix. Sometimes you can jiggle it to a clean spot by hitting it and the inner spring tension will let it work.
This will just get you home though, you will need to change the starter because eventually, it will land on that dead spot and you will be stuck again.

thats true, sometimes you can wack the starter with a rubber mallet or something and it'll work for a while. its worth a try anyway.

if it is not under warranty, check autozone and buy one with the lifetime warranty, or, do the work yourself if you have some skill, or, pay a buddy with a 30pack!

haha yeah I do it on my dak, but she has a 4 banger in there. Those stupid sideways engines lol. Its in the way back and trying to do it in the school parking lot wouldn't be fun.

Gary you seem new to the site but you must know a ton, in the past couple weeks anyone with a question you seem to know the answer. Were you a mechanic or something? Welcome to the forum you're already a ton of help. Thanks!

I believe your selonoid has gone out on your starter. Pull it and have it tested. Do battery at same time (after fully charged) as you'll need to remove neg cable to pull starter anyway
