I owned a 95 dak with the 3.9 5-speed, it was definitely a fun truck. But the 4.7 with the 6-speed would eat its lunch for sure.

You will notice a big difference. my mom has a 4.0 l6 in her jeep and my dad has a 4.7 in his jeep. When you drive my moms the pedal is like to the floor and when you get in my dads you barely touch the pedal and you are flying.

I have to say that my '02 4.7, 5-speed is one of the most fun vehicles I've ever owned. It has a LOT of power, revs high and sounds great with loud pipes.

My Cherokee had the HO 4 liter 6 and although it was a gutsy, bulletproof engine it definitely lacked any "wow factor".

Definitely a +1 for the 4.7 here.

4.7 FTMFW

and its rated (for 2001 at least) at 235/295

I have it and its great, I love having a 5 speed behind it also because it makes it THAT much more fun to drive. Pretty quick and as Czechman said, sounds good with a set of pipes on it

and to top all that, chances are you will get the same if not better mileage with it

basically to sum it up: DO IT!

the best part of having the V8 is getting on the gas and hearing the engine
with dakota's i have 3 a 4 banger the 6 and now the V8. the 4.7 is the most fun out of all 3. and 4 doors r nice for my kids. win win
