I have to say that my '02 4.7, 5-speed is one of the most fun vehicles I've ever owned. It has a LOT of power, revs high and sounds great with loud pipes.
My Cherokee had the HO 4 liter 6 and although it was a gutsy, bulletproof engine it definitely lacked any "wow factor".
Definitely a +1 for the 4.7 here.

4.7 FTMFW
and its rated (for 2001 at least) at 235/295
I have it and its great, I love having a 5 speed behind it also because it makes it THAT much more fun to drive. Pretty quick and as Czechman said, sounds good with a set of pipes on it
and to top all that, chances are you will get the same if not better mileage with it
basically to sum it up: DO IT!
