Arrow Subwoofer//AftermarketLights//Performance questions

So the speakers in my 1998 Dodge Dakota 4x4 5.2L V8 SLT are garbage. Blown, rattle to sht and have zero bass. SO! I'm putting in surround sound alpine type-r speakers and would like to put a 12" alpine type R (maybe) in the truck. For those of you that have extended cabs with subs in them, where did you fit them? Behind the drivers seat? Did you take the back seats out? Or did you fit them under the back seat? If you fit them under the back seat, what type of subs are they and how did you do it?

Another question, I've been looking into a set of aftermarket lights. Either LED/Halo or the black smoked ones. Anyone have any links to websites selling these lights? Or can anyone attach a picture of aftermarket headlights so I can get an idea of how it would actually look on the truck?

When I bought this truck about a month ago, the previous owner had let it sit for 9 months. So the second I got the truck, I flushed the radiator, changed the oil, air filter, checked all the other fluids, lubed the hood hatch/doors/tailgate. All thats left is 4 new shocks and inner tie rods. I'm also looking at brush guards. Any suggestions on brands/prices would be appreciated.
I'm getting around 12 MPG in the city. I obviously knew that I wasnt going to get some hybrid mileage with a 5.2 4x4 truck in Vancouver; but I would like to improve it in whatever way I can- seeing how its $1.12/litre, which is $4.23/gallon. Soon I'll be putting in a Flowmaster 40 series muffler, K&N cold air intake and a new MAP sensor. Does anyone have any other suggestions for bolt on power? Nothing too crazy, I dont want to spend thousands of dollars to just save a couple bucks at the pump.
Anyway I could talk about dodge dakotas all day, so thanks for any info.

I have Type R components in the front doors on my 01 Dakota extended cab. They sound great and have had no problems at all. I have Type S coaxials in the rear side panels, they sound great too. They sound better if you make your own speaker mounting plates out of medium density fiberboard (MDF). 3/4" for the front and 1/2" for the rears.

I have a 10" JL 10W0 sub in an enclosure behind my driver's seat, to the inside so it is centered behind the center seat/arm rest. My amp rack is over to the outside of the sub enclosure. What I did was remove the bottom of the rear seat behind the driver's seat. I am too tall for anyone to sit behind me anyway. I used a 1/4" piece of MDF and made a filler board to fit inside the lip in the top of the open tool tray on that side in the recessed area around the opening. That gave me a place to mount my amplifiers and secure my sub enclosure. I covered the whole thing in gray automotive carpet to match my truck's interior. My system has been in my truck for over 3 years now and had no problems.

Sorry but I have no info on the headlights or brush guards. There was a guy on here who had a cool video of his Halo's firing up at night. Here's a link that might have the post in it. I'm at work and don't have time to search for it just now.

Alright, thanks dude. I still have to figure out what exactly im going to do. My buddy has 2 10" MTX mounted under his rear seats. I might do that, or just put my 1 12" right behind the drivers seat. no idea yet!

12" behind the drivers seat. in this pic im missing the sub (obviously), burnt it up, 100w rms too much.. replaced it with the pioneer 12" slim line, same rms handling as the amp (250).

Something else to consider is the MTX Thunderform. It replaces the tool tray under the back seat and holds 2 10-inch subs I think. Some guys have used them and liked them. I have never heard one. Also if you have the cash you could look into the JL Audio Stealthbox that holds a 10 inch sub and replaces the front center seat cushion. It's not easy to install, really need 2 guys for the job but it sounds good as long as you give it enough power and it keeps the factory look of the truck.

I've got a single 12" behind the passenger's seat, sitting right on top of the back seats as well. I just moved the jack and everything to my tool box.
It's a soundstorm sub and a soundstorm amp. I've had them both in two cars now. Soundstorm is a great less expensive brand. Their quality is on par with pioneer, but almost half the cost. I highly recommend them if you're looking to not spend a arm and a leg, but still want sound quality.

My friend had one behind his passenger seat all he did was moved the jack to the other side of his tool box then he took the seat off and just mounted it to the tool box. It works out pretty well. I was going to put one behind my seat but I use it too much surprisingly I sometimes have people sit back there and plus when I go out riding/racing atvs I take a lot of stuff so the extra room is nice.

^^ I don't use that back seat much. Maybe extra stuff that can't get wet, or when I go grocery shopping or something.

When people ask for a ride, I tell them I have a regular cab. In fact I tell myself I have an extraordinarily long regular cab. They made a mistake at the factory...

I ain't no taxi.

i just built a custom box in the middle between the seet an console with an 8 in it which sounds fine for me but i got extra wood left over so now im going to build one that looks like a centre console for the back and drops down inbetween the seat and make it look clean and put a 10 probally in it, i have one for a 12 made to but its just to big.
my amp i just threw it under the passanger seat what ever it fits just perfect if you get it right if not you have a hard time moving the lever to move the seat back and forth
ive thought about building underneath the back seat but it got to difficult so i quit
