Default 46re hangs in seconds gear until 2500

I got a 5.9 with a 46 re in my dakota. The tranny hangs in second gear until 2500 rpm regardless if i baby it or accelerate quickly until then. It will shift before 2500 if i take my foot off the gas for a second. Any ideas? It shifts fine though at 2500

Id get used to that. Mine done the exact same thing, it has something to do with the way that tranny's set about taking of or something. Only fix i know of, possibly a shift kit would fix it depending on how its set up. Or change it to a stick like i did!

move the TV cable clip closer to the linkage in 1/8" increments, it will lower the line pressure. I have mine pulled back because i prefer the high shift points.

Poor shifting can also be the governor pressure sensor (or solenoid) inside of the transmission. Replacing those really helped my truck shift better. I think I paid a bit north of $100 for all the parts and it took about 90 minutes of my time (and it was my first time doing transmission work other than a filter change).

You've started with some of the simpler things, but another simple thing: Have you checked your transmission fluid?

If you need fluid (you will obviously need it if you change those parts), make sure to use ATF+4. Some aftermarket brands (IIRC Castrol and Valvoline) have a license to market it so I got Castrol +4 from Autozone when I did mine.

I just realised you said 2500 , not 5200 (what i saw). That's a normal shiftpoint i think...before i did my TV cable that's where it shifted for 2nd, and dad's hemi shifts all gears in the 2-3000 range.

When I had a 3.9/42re it shifted a lot lower than that, but then evntually it started doing that. It seems like a common occurance on dodge trannys. They weren't/aren't the worlds best trannys.

I dropped the pan and put a new filter and refilled with ATF+4 check the level with truck idling in neutral hot and the level is fine. Tv adjustment is fine also/ This is really pissing me off...
