What do you use in oil changes?

Is the lucas heavy duty oil stabalizer i use bad for my moter? Or should i use the lucas synthetic oil stabalizer? Or are they both bad for my engine?
I haven't done my first oil change because I just purchased my Dakota. But I plan to use NAPA Gold oil filters (they are the same as WIX and WIX is possibly the best filter available) with Mobil 1 full synthetic 10-30. Also planning to make it an extended oil change by replacing the oil filter at every 4000 miles and changing the oil at 8000 miles. Then I'll send a sample in to have it analyzed...maybe extend the changes to every 10000 or 12000 miles. Plenty of people do full synthetic oil changes every 8000-15000 miles with good success.

Why 10-30? The manual calls for 5-30 in the 4.7.
And Mobile 1 is over rated...
I think this is a topic that was covered a year ago but in a study of the oils that protect best. The top was Penzoil,AMSOIL,Valvoline, and I think Quaker State. Mobile 1 and Castrol were about 7 & 8.

I don't know just seems that EVERYONE has to use Mobile 1 when in fact it doesn't protect your engine as well as other oils.
I mean obviously the difference is so minimal that it probably doesn't make a difference if you use AMSOIL or Supertech (which I've heard IS mobile 1, not positive though).
The only real difference I see is if you use conventional or synthetic. Obviously synthetic is better for an engine, helps it run cleaner, but again as long as you're using a synthetic oil it probably doesn't matter if its the most expensive or the cheapest, in a daily driver type of vehicle. I'm not talking a drag car or something to that nature.

I use Napa brand 10W30 conventional and a Napa ProSelect filter. I change my oil every 2800 to 3000 miles and have never had a single problem with it. Napa oil is Valvoline in a Napa botle and the ProSelect filter is made by Wix to Napa's specs. I stocked up on oil when it was on sale last month for $1.99 a quart plus I had a coupon for a free ProSelect filter when you buy a case of Napa conventional. I got a case for my truck and my gf's car plus additional filters to last for about the next year's worth of oil changes.
Most conventional oil and filters available now will do just fine on a normal 3000 mile oil change. I have never used synthetic oil, and with 118,000 miles on my truck I would be hesitant to use a synthetic motor oil now.
There are a lot of choices for oil and filters out there. Most any of them should do fine. Some people bash Fram oil filters. I don't use them because the ProSelect/Wix is a better filter with better construction for the same or less price. Same with Napa oil, it's Valvoline without the name brand Valvoline price. I do know for sure that if you use a quality oil and filter and change it on schedule you do not need to add anything else to it.

I use Mobil 1 or Castrol conventional oil and fram or bosh filter. I only get fram cause I can buy them at work lol, Im not a huge fan of fram. But they are cheap at my work and I get 15% off that (thats at Tractor Supply if you wanna check it out, valvoline, castrol and penzoil oil too.)
My basic understanding is if you use a quality oil and filter the minor differences will not make a huge difference. Castrol and mobil 1 might be over priced/rated but I have used them in a few vehicles and have not had a single issue. Doing your changes when your supposed to is a biggie too Thats just my $.02
