2 in. inlet diameter; 2.5 in. outlet diameter. I don't know what is best for v6's i replaced my 3.9 with a 5.2 as soon as i bought the truck. however i have heard a 3.9 with a 40 series flowmaster that actually sounded decent if your wanting loud. almost sounds like a V8

ya the 40 series and something raptor are the only mufflers i've heard on a v6 and the flowmaster was deff a better choice, loud and alllmost sounds like a V8

I put a dynomax superturbo on my dakota with a 3.9L, I love the sound. I've heard a lot of them that sound good down low, but start to sound ricey above 2 grand. The dynomax has a nice rumble down low like a V8, and continues that rumble all the way through the RPM's, I've never heard a V6 sound like this before. It's not really loud (actually much quieter than I expected) and it doesn't buzz in the cab at any RPM. I definitely recomend it.

A friend of mine has the flowmaster 40 and it sounds good for a v6. No v6 is actually going to sound as good as a v8 but none the less it sounded alright.

Yeah, if you want really loud then the superturbo isn't for you. It is pretty quiet, but has a nice note. I don't know how the louder dynomax mufflers sound so I can't attest to them. I hate how most of the really loud mufflers on a V6 (or just a straight pipe) wind up sounding ricey above 2000 RPM.

ya i know what you mean. the flowmaster Isn't as bad with the ricer sound at high rpms. Ive even heard a glasspack on a dakota that didnt sound too bad either. I always heard that truck coming. Either way your not going to get an aggressive rumble from a V6 unfortunately. swap that 3.9 for a 5.2 if you happen to have a money tree in your backyard
