Smile tire size and 3 inch body lift

HI everybody newbie here recently purchased my first truck 04 dakota quad cab and i would like to pimp it out a little.Right now i have stock 265 70 r16 this is as big as i can go without lift kit. I would like to know how big i can go with 3 inch lift kit without rubbing, also i would like to here from someone with experience if i should get larger wheels if i lift it or remain stock 16 and just go wider. this site is great where can i look at other members rides and see what they have done to their dakotas.appreciate any help thanks

I am sure someone will comment on this thread and post pictures of thier vehicles that are lifted. You could also try to view some on the 'members rides' section,

I have an 03 quad with a 3 inch body lift, I kept stock wheels and went with 305/70/16 they rub the frame just a hair in the front when u've got the steering maxed, I'll post a pic soon as I get my truck back from the shop

Mine is siting on 33's and is basically stock. Maybe 1 to 1 1/2 turns on the bars is all. Very mild rub at full lock, nothing a utility knife to the back inside edge of the bumper cover/ valance couldn't handle.

Mine has a 3 inch body lift, and sporting 33x12.50's. Only a very slight rub. I never even notice it rubbing, but I can see the bare spot on the frame.
