Default Cummins 4 BT Diesil

SO, my uncle has this old bread truck with a rebuilt cummins 4bt diesil in it. I have an opportunity to take it, but only if I swap it into my dakota after the engine goes out.

Personally a free engine is a free engine BUT would it be hard to to a diesil swap in these trucks? from the looks of it the 4bt is quite a bit smaller than the stock 4.7. Have any of you guys done this?

It depends do you have the time and ablity to do the swap. Its possible to do but its not as easy as you might think. I would love to put a diesel in my truck but that is too much time for me since my truck is my dd.

The 4bt was design to be in tractors, small delivery trucks, construction equipment. So if low end torque is what your after then do it. I'm assuming its turboed if its in a bread truck but they do come NA. But if your after big dyno sheet HP numbers to show off to your buDdies then stay away and sell it. Someone on here would pay good money for that if it was in good running order.

If I was going to spend the time and money to swap in a diesel it would be the 5.9 cummins but we all know how much work that would be. Like said above not much hp on them but they have nice torque.

That would be sweet. Hemi is not to bad either or you could do the 8.0 v10.
