so if I reading the above correctly, this would be the problem with my 2001 dodge dakota club cab where the only problem is the low beam on passenger side. Have also done all the processes eliminating other potential issues.
Does your driver headlight work intermittently like mine? Take a look at your ctm the black box underneath the kick panel next to your left foot as you're driving.. underneath the parking brake. Well you can jump the purple and red wire with a solid purple wire and it will turn on your headlight. The high beam will not work doing this.
Note solid purple wire is jump to purple wire with red stripe. Purple wire with red stripe is the passenger side low beam jump it with the solid purple to make your driver side Low Beam work.
Before you go replacing the CTM or adding a relay, check the wire harnesses around the CTM very carefully. I have only heard of it happening once, but there was a guy on here who had headlight problems too and he had some wires get chafed and cut up on a metal bracket near his CTM. Once he fixed the wiring everything was fine, but he was still out the $200.00 he spent on his new CTM. Here is the thread from his light problem:
I ran across it while searching for info on new headlight bulbs for my truck. It might be a good idea to go over the wiring at the CTM and the light too very carefully before doing anything else.

I realize this is an older post and I signed up to the forum just to relay my findings. I’m a mechanic at a small shop in Florida and I had an 02 Dakota come in with the left front headlight inop....I found the Ctm had corroded a pin off the white connector which I was able to find thanks to the picture that was posted on here. So if it will let me upload a couple pics then......
And it did.....hope this helps someone with this problem. The truck I’m working on is a base truck.
So I have a question when buying a replacement CTM. Does the part number need to be exact on the replacement as the one being replaced? I’ve seen some of these for sale on eBay but the last character of the park number is different from mine. Should that be a concern?

The numbers need to be the same, unless it is an updated part number. (and will be listed as such in the parts catalog.) The last two LETTERS do NOT need to match. Those are just revision numbers.

so as long as I find one that ends in 9071 I should be good? My truck has zero power options or alarm system or key fob to reprogram. It’s bone stock.
