Shell; i find it is the most efficient out of chevron, petro-canada, husky, supersave, etc

all of the gas prices are within 1-2 cents of each other, but that doesnt really matter when you're already paying 1.17/litre for 87 reg, or 1.30/litre for 91 octane

and no, its not fun paying 5-6 dollars for a gallon of gas, driving a dodge dakota

A.) Isn't it bad to always be running around with just a little in the tank?

Gas weighs like 6-7 pounds a gallon. So max your carrying like 150 extra pounds. In a truck like ours, I don't think you're hurting anything by keeping a full tank. It's not "bad" to run with a little in the tank, but it's not "good" to run a full tank either, it doesn't really matter.

This is off topic, but in my Geo Metro, a full tank of gas slows me down...lol.

I'm not overly picky, but I use Shell because its the closest gas station to my house and there are way to many gas stations in town for there to be any variations in price. The only one I am picky about is Citgo. I will NOT use Citgo. I've been forced to fill up at one a couple times in the past and my truck ran like absolute crap. It didn't want to start as quick, it knocked, and I got terrible gas milage.

And as for the running low on gas comment... that is very bad for the pump. The pump uses the gas to cool itself, so if you constantly have too little gas in the tank to cool the pump, it will wear out prematurely.

And to the guy who said detonation is bad... WTF? How do you think an engine runs? I really hope you mean pre-detonation.

I prefer Chevron but out here in Southern California it runs about $3.09 a gallon, and its usually around $4 a gallon around this time of year. Other than that Costco has really great prices and gas.

Quite frankly, every place you buy gas in my area is the same price. Also, shell, petro Canada and extra foods all get gas from the same refinery. I don't go off of the commercials for the benefit. Yeah, if it works that's great, but it's not the reason I use shell gas. That's the airmiles and the fact that it seems my truck runs best on shell gas.

as crazy as this sounds, here is my .02 For whatever reason I seem to get the best mileage from the first half tank, if I fill up right around (or slightly below) 1/2 tank the numbers come out 1-2mpg (3mpg Hwy) better every time. Don't know why, but it does.

As stated above these pumps use the fuel to keep cool, I don't make it habit to get low anyway.
