What size winches are common for the Dakota's? I would say 9,000lbs?

Our trucks are not all that heavy even when stuck compared to some of the big rigs I have seen with 10k's.

I think a 8-9k winch would be good I have a 9,500lb mile marker. I think they say like double the weight of the truck or something like that I cant remember. Wheres "hammer" when you need him lol

I need to find a old broken winch that no one wants that is around 9k. Like a 9K Warn or Superwinch for mock up.

The weather is getting warmer and I am gearing up to build a couple more bumpers. I came up with a rear bumper design and a bumper with more ground clearance for the front.

Problem with Dakotas, the bumper can be shorter but the rad would then be exposed. So the approach angle would not change if the bumper was build shorter on the bottom. My newer design cuts off about 6" off the bottom!

Now to find some people interested in buying a bumper.

Or you can buy my 9.5 mile marker for 500 used 3 times on loads no more than 500lb lol

Have been looking for someone who has a damaged or broken winch for test fitting bumpers but so far no one has emailed me. I guess no one has any broken winches and Craigslist has deleted the add at least once so far. Not sure why. Frustrating lol.

do you need the actual winch or could you do with just the measurements?

The winch would be nice to fit in the actual bumper. I have been on the Superwinch website and got the fill pic and measurements on the winch.

I then made a 3D winch from the measurements and put it into my 3d model of my bumper. If fit fairly close to the inside shell of the bumper but not sure how much room to the rad. My friend has one of the bumpers I built and he has a tranny cooler limiting room (and a 3" body lift). Im still waiting for him to get a winch to fit it in there.

Also I need to know if I have to spin the controls or cut out the top of the bumper. I have never owned a winch so Im not up to speed on winches. Working on it.
