Default Cant break 16

2000 5.9L QC
I've done all the hypermiling and maintenance I can do without changing engine parts or body parts and I can't break 16, 15.9mpg is the best I've ever done. I got 17 on a trip to Colorado this Dec, that depressed me so I didn't check it again.

On the list is a cold air intake, dual exhaust, a front bumper air dam, and maybe a camper top.

I'm spending $200-$250 a month in gas. I couldn't help myself when I saw that this truck had the big V8 I had to have it. The power has come in handy pulling a camper, and I need the four seats so I'm kinda stuck with the truck. Not that its a bad truck to be stuck with, I can beat all but the fastest cars off the traffic lights (unless I'm trying to squeeze out the mpg).

Yeah, it's just the nature of the beast. The 5.9 is an ancient engine. Never was good on gas. But really 16 isn't bad with a QC 5.9. It's about the best you will see out of that truck.

I took a trip yesterday.. avg on the overhead reading was 14.9, that was doing intermittent 70-75mph at any given time.. hills hills and more hills, and wind from hell..

I've averaged 17.8 over the last 7,600 miles. Its been going down quite a bit from a high of 20.9 during the summer.

Pretty sure its due to the new tires as well as all city driving and winter gas
