Default Best tire?

What is the best tire in every ones opinion for my 97 4x4. It has 31-10.5/15 tires, doesn't seem to be a lot of choices. Want something better than the Goodyear R/T (I think that is what is on it, came on the truck new) for snow and wet conditions.

Thanks all.

Everyone has their oppions. I think I've said it a million times now lol but I love my Nitto Terra Grapplers. They're great in the snow and rain. Especially when it comes to stopping in the snow. Between the fact that the tires are good and I have manual trans, I never have a problem stopping in the snow. Some people swear by BFG's, but they're a lot more expensive and I really think the Nittos are better.

Go to discounttire.com and read the reviews, they speak for themselves.

If you would like a picture let me know, I have a ton.

well i will speak for what i have. hankook dynapro atms. current size are 245/75/16. in wet traction they are ok, but if you goose the throttle at all they suck. if you drive hard on wet they suck. they have 0 road noise, and are a good ride. dry traction is pretty good. snow in 2wd blows, but with 4 they are decent.

got my first ever snow tires this winter. I will never run anything else again in the winter. holy cow the traction is awesome. and this is on my minivan. point and shoot capability with only 2wd.

and yes, when springtime comes I'll be swapping them out. worth the investment. worth the hassle.

you'll probably need to get some in a metric size that's similar to 30 or 31". I did find this one though:

It really depends on what you need it for. If you go off road a lot you'll need something with a good grip. I seldom venture far off-road anymore but I digress...

I've had good luck with Michelin LTX M/S. It's a mud/snow tread, runs nice and quiet, yet has good all around traction. I got almost 60k out of the last set of Michelins.

My father borrowed the truck once and says the truck rides nicer than his big Merc.

Opinion is going to vary but I love my bfg a/t's I got them at discounttiredirect.com Spoke to tim I believe and was very helpful and eager to help me out. I ended up going with 32/1150/15 bfgs got them shipped to my door for 610! I found that was the best price I have ever found for them(2 months of lookin online) They hook up to any surface great. I took them on a little snow adventure this weekend in the woods and even in 2wd I didnt have to much of a problem. In 4wd they really shined I was climbin hills with no problem. Here is a hill that I climbed no problem its really steeper than in the pic. There is 5 inch of snow I spun some but never lost foward movement

Destinations are a good tire. I have a cousin in upstate NY who swears by the A/T.

My personal preference for a 4x4 tire that lives mostly on pavement but can do the off-road thing to hunt/fish/etc. would be the Nitto Terra Grapps. I have them on my Grand Cherokee 4x4 daily driver. Probably the best tire I've ever owned on wet pavement. Good trail tire too as long as you don't go into crazy deep mud...

Thanks everyone.

I will check out the Nittos and Destinations. BFG's and Michelins are pretty pricey, I think, I will check them and the Hankooks out also. Dunlops shown are a dedicated snow tire, would prob prefer an all season, unless I can come up with some more rims.

We need a poll on this!

honestly dont buy the hankooks. they also have soft rubber. on wet they have bad traction. the only redeeming factors are they are quiet, comfortable, looks, and in 4x4 they do good.
