How in the world do you replace the fuel filter in the 3.9 1999? please don't tell me you have to drop the tank to get to it....

its nto a big deal im replacing my fuel pump in the spring. all u do is take the bed off 8-10 bolts and get a few friends help you lift it off. its a lot easier then dropping the tank.

I took my bed off to do my fuel pump. 8 bolts, tail light wiring, fuel filler neck and the spare tire winch rod has to come off. I had my bed ready to come off in 1 and 1/2 hrs then I just put a board under the bed rails and then used the come a long attached to the board and my garage beam and I lifted the bed right up by myself and then I just pulled my truck out.

Take the bed off, it's easier. I had my wife and teenage son help, and it was a piece of cake.
