Smile 350 swap in dakota.

im looking to put a 350 in to a 2x4 single cab dodge dakota. im wondering if anyone out there has done it or has thought about doing it. im sure the motor mounts off the 318 will work with some mods im also wondering if anyone know if i have to re-vin for the 350 or if theres someone that can shut down the monitors or if there is a way to bypass the obd II with the computer unhooked. im planning on running a temp gage for coolant and oil. the speed sensor runs off a protion of the modual. im hoping it will remain up and running.

Why dont you just put a 360 in there it would be a lot easier with wiring and sensors.

Well the trans isnt going to hold up to anything with more power so your looking for that and by the time you do motor mounts, wiring and bell housing you would prob be cheaper if you just go with a 360.

I would do the 360 just to keep it mopar but the 350 would be different, i would just go carburated and do away with all the sensors and computer all together. Less wiring to figure out and easier

If you are going 350, go carb'd. Eliminate a lot of wiring right there. I personally wouldn't put a 350 in a dakota since everything these days has a 350 in it, but if I were I would go carb'd in a heartbeat. That would be something different and cool even if FI is more refined and easier to tune.

ok understand that a 360 would be cheaper and better and dadadadada...... and yea im mopar through and through but i have a 350 carbrated and ready to go already. and yes everyone had put a 350 in ever thing. i have a buddy with one in a mazda. my big thing is that i can build a lot more power cheaper and i could tune a FI if i needed too i do have a computer and everything to do so i would just run the vortec out of a 96 1500 or say **** it all and put the 6.0l out of the 2500 hd in it and be totally different
i have one of thoses in the barn too. i also have an 79 olds FI 350 sitting in a caddy seville but i dont wanna pull that apart! my biggest issue it the inspection aspect
