Exclamation dash looks like a Christmas tree

when I started my truck last week my abs, airbag, check engine and emergency brake lights all came on. My speedometer also stopped working??? and of all things my air conditioner stop coming on. I thought it might be from my PCM so I replaced it, that didn't correct the problem. I'm lost for answers I checked all my fuses. where do I go from here? Oh and my back lights aren't working either....HELP

Did you check your relays and fuses?

Check the fuses in the PDC under the hood, the big 40 amp ones. The A/C, airbag, and ABS are all on the same bus on the junction box fed by those those fuses.

It's fuse 9 on a 2000. Not sure of what year you have.

I checked the fuses a couple days ago they all checked out ok. I did notice when driving that my speedometer started jumping and my air bag and abs light went out for a second. I'm thinking loose wire or something like that.... any other ideas ?

I had a VERY similar issue with mine. I thought it was the speed sensor since the speedo stopped working, but then (luckly it was summer) I noticed the AC would stop working when the speedo stopped working. I had to take it to a shop because I myself could not figure it out. It ended up being the wires going into the ignition were coming loose and were not making a good connection. It took the shop awhile to figure it out so it cost me a lot just in labor. My reverse lights didn't work either, but they still don't work. It you're an automatic it is probably your problem since the switch is probably right there with the rest of the wiring. My truck is a manual so the switch is no where near those wires.

It's kind of a freak and random thing I didn't think anyone else would ever have this problem but my problem was identical to yours.

I think bpark is onto something. It sounds like an issue with the switch as they are all related.

Are you having trouble with your power windows? They're on the same bus.

I never would have found it myself the when I had the problem. I checked all kinds of stuff and never would have thought of that. It took the shop I took it to 5 or 6 hours to trace it and find the problem. It's really random and a freak thing. I never figured anyone else would have that same problem. It's definitely a place to start looking though.

man i sure hope you right. It makes sense since I was driving a couple days ago and the speedometer worked for a split second. I was kind of thinking it might be the ignition. I'm always tilting the steering wheel up and down to get in since my wife also drives my truck. I'll check my wires at the switch as soon as it stops raining. I wonder if my check engine light will also go out...Thanks for posting.

If you're constantly tilting the steering wheel, I bet that is your problem. I hope it is. I never even thought of it when I had the problem.

My speedo would randomly work for a split second every now and then as well.

you were right bpark I pulled the covers to get to the ignition switch and found a broken wire. I made the repair the best I could and everything started working again..Thanks for steering me in the right direction. Now I just got to figure out why my truck shuts off when I slow down to make a turn
