Default Lost wire

Hi, I replaced my water pump on my 2000 Dakota V6. Every thing went good except I have a black wire with a large terminal left over, I can't find where it goes. It comes out of the cross over bundle just behind the alternator, it is hot when the key is on. The engine is throwing random misfire codes for #2 & 4 cylinders. Ran good before replacing the water pump, also the air compressor does not kick in. Thank you

Sounds like you have a lose ground. Chances are that is what you got there a ground, black is pretty well the universal ground color.

to me it looks like a wire that would normally be on the backside of the alternator. i'm only guessing though

Thank you every one, I have rechecked where it would go. Putting it to ground doesn't change any thing. the wire is hot so it shouldn't go to the alt.
