which engine do i have
Just picked up my 2001 Dakota 4x4 sit club cab today and the plastics on the engine say magnum but not how many L and when I used the Dakota Vin decoder its says I have a 4.7l which would be a powertech not magnum?
if your throttle body is facing up then you have a magnum, 3.9, 5.2 or 5.9 if the TB is facing the front then you have the 4.7.
if your manifolds plastic then its 4.7 and if its metal keg looking its a magnum.
why would you by a vehicle w.o knowing what engine it has?

Might seem obvious to us, but do you know how many people buy their car/truck with out knowing which engine it has?... A LOT. Most people don't have a clue what engine their vehicle has.

That is very true. So many people don't even know. I could never buy a car/truck not knowing the engine. Just like if you try talking about cars with people who don't really know much and they say they have like a 6.4 liter gas engine in their f150. There are 2 things wrong with that: 1. Ford doesn't make a 6.4 Liter gas engine. 2. The 6.4 Liter engine they have is a diesel. Lol I explained that to the person who said that and the guy got so confused. I don't even know much about Fords and I knew that.
Guys its not that I didn't know, when I checked under the hood and saw magnum on the plastics I figured 5.9l magnum and when I checked the vin and seen 4.7l I was just confused and didn't know they had magnum plastered on a power tech engine thats all.
