First of all why do you want to? Do you think you going to gain HP or MPG?

The MOST you could take it is probably just the drive-shaft 10lbs. Everything supports something else.

I will move this to the 2nd Generation Dakota Sub-Forum.

You can not remove the CV half shafts. If you do the hub bearings will fall apart, the CV nut holds it all together on the shaft. You could take apart the CV half shaft and re-install only the outer shaft to hold the hub together.

Are you racing in a Pre-Runner race? If so you don't want any parts that are stock. Are you just after a Pre-Runner look?

I want your skid plates if you have some lol. I would imagine starting with a 2wd from the beginning would be best and probably easiest.

well if you were to take out all the 4wd stuff you would have to get a new tranny or have yours redone as 2wd and 4wd trannys are diffrent find the correct or have a new drive line made then your best bet would to find a doner truck and swap out the complete front end and you will have 4wd fault codes pop up best bet is to just find a 2wd you can find them pretty cheap for the older ones such as a 97-98

Indeed. You'd be surprised at how low of a price you can find on these trucks at craigslist. Find what you want, perhaps for $3k, hope for the best and sell your current truck for a little more and you just lucked out.
