I just got done doing mine a week ago wanted something different the brake dust started to pit my wheels I got a set of drilled and slotted rotors for 95 bucks on eBay and some ceramic pads with lifetime warranty threw autozone for 60 bucks and rebuilt both calipers for 40 you can order the parts off rock auto just need the hardware kit the seals and pistons if yours are ruined mine had broke since they were ceramic it don't take much to brake a chunk out

 

That is the one change I want to try is drilled and slotted rotors.

moparman_2004 do you feel like they help do you feel like you are stopping better at all?

The ones I got were from powerautosport on eBay the ones I got and never seen before was the zinc plating

 

Yes they feel to grab better when I did them I burned them in a little bit to seat them but I'm super happy with them

I’m a city street Cruiser I don’t need anything crazy. Had to slam my brakes on today some nut tried to do the crazy thing on me, boy did I burn some rubber off my tires WOW had a big cloud of tire smoke from that.

I was smoking mad as they say.

 

Not to hi-jack a thread or anything but I just had the Dak in about a month ago for inspection and they said that the inside of the one pad had 10mm on the top and 5mm on the bottom or however the hell brakes are measured. Anyways I just got a car as some may know and I told them not to worry about it but does anyone have any ideas on what could be causing that? I have a friend that works at Advance and can get me a great deal on pads and rotors and even though the Dak is sitting mostly now I'd like to do them eventually but not have that happen again, with uneven pad wear.

 

Yea my pads were doing this I think it’s an early Dakota thing I replaced my calipers and that helped but you can see they are wearing kind of off still I think some of it is the knuckle the brake stops get warped some and they get grooves in them causing some minor binding plus just not the greatest design.

They stop great but wear a bit off center no biggy just watch them and if it gets out too much replace the pads.

 

yes i would say that your caliper is out there is bushing that are probley woren out im assuming that your mechanicly inclined but rebuilding brake calipers is super easy and you can order all the parts off rock auto for a 1/5th of the price

 

Sounds good...thanks guys, I'll most likely try to rebuild it once I do them since its not my DD anymore and it won't matter if its out of commission for more than a day or two.

 

I replace mine just yeterday front rotors and break pads. What bothers me is i can still feel the pulsing. Not as bad as before but still feel it. I cant think of anything that would cost that. I check my suspension they ar all tight and same with my tires. My rear rotors are all good and no problem. Tell me guys what you think why i feel the pulsing after replacing the front rotors plus break pads. Or maybe i need to like do break in like go for a drive and hit the breaka hard lol. What do you think?
